It’s ok to be different

While I believe that knowing and understanding doctrine is very valuable to a solid walk with Christ, I do realize that it is used as battering ram to unnecessarily tear down others.  It is very easy to lose sight of the grace that is open to all-not just those who adhere to a particular doctrine.  For me discussing doctrine is essential to help people loosen cultural lenses and to strengthen the habits of the mind (much like debating how many angels can dance on the head of a pin-seeminlgy mindless but thoroughly important to train the mind to think).   

 I enjoy reading the blog of the late Mike Spencer whose work is now being carried out by a few others.  In a recent post, the blog stated much better than I the importance of not demonizing fellow believers and living in grace.  Here is the link:  Internet Monk

In the world of Evangelicalism there are many kinds of revivals in which people participate.  According to Webster’s dictionary, a revival is “(1) : a period of renewed religious interest (2) : an often highly emotional evangelistic meeting or series of meetings.”  In this instance, I believe each definition refers to a different kind of revival and will discuss each separately.
